Not having any problems at the moment. Just looking to see who's around this area with knowledge for future reference. I guess because mines an 2006 FXDI and reading some of these posts, better to be prepared in case.. right?
all of us man... let us know if you run into anything... i have never swapped a IPB before... with the right tools it should go smooth, but mine is not so much... never the less i have to fix it, so i am goign to keep hacking away!
Damn, after reading this I am nervous to open mine up now, but definitely have an IPB noise based on test from previous threads. Guess I will find out later on tonight when I start to open it up...

I'll swing by later and give ya a hand if ya want. The wife is working tonight so I'm free.
ahhh and it keeps getting better! last night i had my brother stop off at HD on the way home to get the gaskets that i needed... the numbers in the service manual are not correect so i got 2 of the 3 correct gaskets i need. The trans output oil seal was way off! so i have to get a new one... basicly my hands where tied for doing any more work, so i figured i would just pop on the new clutch spring... simple right, unscrew 6 screws, new plate, alternate screwing them back in 90 in-lbs and done... 5 min job.... YA RIGHT... taking them off 2 screw heads snapped off... awesome right... 3 hours later i was able to use an easy out and tiny trill bit to get them out... i checked the threads and they are good... so i need to go to HARLEY AGAIN, and get 2 more clutch pack bolts, ah ha ha ha ha all i could do was laugh!
So today after i get home from the office, i will get into her! hope things go smooth the rest of the way, i have been running up hill this whole job!
ooh well what do you do, i also have to clean my clutch plates because some of the metal shavings from drilling out the old screws fell into there.... nothing a bit of brake cleaner can not take care of!
I feel your pain bro, I just did most of the same job you are doing now a few weeks ago, including swapping out my rotor/stator to the welded unit. I had a heck of a time with dealer incompetence pressing out old bearing/pressing in new bearing and NOT aligning clip with oil passage. I did EVERYTHING else myself, but their incompetence and 3 trips (140 miles R/T) cost me a few extra days too.
The one thing I've learned about working on my ride is this, it's like a home project, you buy all the crap you need from Home Depot, tear into something and 3 other things go wrong, leaving you without water, power, something at 9:01pm when the hardware store closes, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggghhh.

Dig into it, and don't look back. The only thing I'd be nervous about is not opening it up and riding out in the middle of nowhere months down the road and wondering, what's with the lights flickering, and that loud noise coming from my primary.
This job reminds me of the timing belt I replaced on my 01 Tacoma last year. Had to tear the front part of the engine off and fabricate a 2x4 with dilled holes in it to lock my crankshaft down, bla bla bla, same with removing the primary and a cutting board to lock my main drive shaft and ha ha. I think I busted the same knuckles up on that job too.

Dont be concerned about opening it up yourself. Whats being experienced here is pretty much a worse case scenario, and I'm thankful for Joe to post his problems with it. Not all of us have ***** that big.
Hmm didn't think of that. If it was made in October it had to be a fairly early 06 model. Wonder why it had the 07 style rotor and stator.
Here's my thoughts, maybe it's not the 07 rotor but an 05. If the bolted rotor was new for 06 than maybe the 05 was welded and in 07 they went back to it.
