Stopped by the stealer today. Told me power commanders preset from fuelmoto are no good because every bike is different, even if they are the same model with the same pipe and air cleaner set up. Any truth to this? It seems every dealer I talk to has a different answer.
Alot of the tune depends on the altitude at which you live or will be riding. Lets say you live n Colorado and have your bike tuned to run perfect. If you send me that same map to use on my bike here in Texas it will perform quit differantly because of the air density. That is just one aspect to consider. When anyone preloads a map it is a good starting point but that is all it should be. If the bike runs good with it and your plugs look good then alot of people will continue to use that map. But the more perfectionist type will take the bike to the dyno and get it dialed to perfection. With that being said, it is best to dyno tune your bike to get the most out of it.

So do they dyno tune each bike before it is sold or do they set each bike up the same. As stated earlier its a starting point but it should work pretty good and you can tweak it to get it at its most optimal settings.

What caused them to offer their opinion in the first place?
Obviously everyone is going to have an opinion on subjects such as this. If you feel that your bike is running ok and you're happy with it, why mess with it?
IMHO you can run fuel moto maps or power commander maps without feeling a difference in the way the machine rides. I was running FM map and my plugs were black , but not thickly coated or crusty so it was fine, but the stock set up they were a golden brown color. I run a PC map now and my plugs have gone back to that color, and the bike has lots of power. If your only running a stage one a 3,4 ,or 500$ dyno tune is not necessary. And every dealer will spin you a different yarn. Mine ! Her eyes popped and she said "Ebay that peice of crap now your just asking for trouble" I've had it three months now problem free and it's staying........at least until I upgrade to TTS..if ever!
I dont know what tuner is the best. But I do know my bike is running just fine with the Power commander. The fact that the people that make the Dynojet that does all the Dynos an uses the same technology makes it, gives me cause to trust it. I have talked to all kind of builders all over the country, each has one he likes. But in the end its what we like as an individual that matters. So use what you want crank her up an ride on.....
