killer, I want to add a tach to my SuperGlide, and I don't see where they are offered from Hd for the 06s.

Hope I'm wrong.

mudpuddle,

Hey mud,...

The harley tachometer addition kit is part # 67224-04 it fits 04 and later FXDI. It comes in the wrinkle black finish the MSRP is $266.95 and if you want to go chrome you will have to also buy the chrome bracket kit which is part # 67294-95A MSRP $104.95. I read an article in one of the motorcycle magazines about installing the tach kit and its really pretty easy,... just plug in the new one. I've had my eye on one for awhile but something else always catches my eye and $$$ first. I just bought me a new chrome headlight assembly and the Kuryakyn turn signal relocoation mounts. I'll add a pic when they come in and I get it all installed.

Thanks for the info bear.

I guess I worded my reply to killer wrong. I do know about the Part # you speak of.

I would like to get the 2 5/8" tach, because I like the single instrument centered there all by it's lonesome.

BUT, it has really been eating at me to not have a tachometer. Now that I am ready to add on the SERT capabilities, I may have to go with the dual gauge setup you are referencing.

Thanks for the input Cobra. Pretty clean setup.

Not to mention an outstanding machine you have. And the Cobra website under the hood shots are favorites.

Is that all HD parts?? bracket, cup, and all??

you list these part #s on your modifications page:

Black Mini Face Tachometer Gauge (68953-04)
ECM Crimp Connector For Tachometer Signal (72076-00)

Is this all I would need??

Thanks for the compliments! I've since taken my bags off so the bike looks different than the pictures and now the chrome swingarm really stands out. I need to snap some new pics and update the website.

As far as parts and part numbers, no all the parts are not HD. From HD you'll need the tach and the crimp connector (buy a few extra) but the mounting cup comes from Alloy Art. It's not cheap either but it was the best solution out there for the look that I wanted. I personally don't prefer the double gauge pod look that HD offers and once I was directed to Alloy Art's website by a friend I knew I had found what I was looking for. You will also need a miscellaneous bolt and lock washer from the hardware store.

The install is pretty straight forward and if you decide to go that route I can assist you with the best way to go about it. If you don't feel comfortable taking the tank off on your own then I don't recommend you attempt this.

Be sure to let us know when you update the website pix PC.

I prefer the solo centered instrument as well.

Are these the other major parts that you used for yours:

Chrome Alloy Art Mini Gauge Stem Nut Mounting Cup (SM-3)

Chrome Handlebar Clamp Hardware (94453-05)

SO, does the mini tach plug directly into your existing Dyna wiring harness??

OR, is that where the ECM Crimp Connector For Tachometer Signal (72076-00) comes into play??

The cup, tach, crimp connector, bolt, lock washer, electrical tape, and some electrical connectors, are all that's needed. The chrome handlebar clamp hardware is just some chrome bolts that I replaced the stock clamp bolts with because after I installed the tach those bolts just looked out of place. Plus those bolts weren't even all the correct length, I had to cut 1" off two of the bolts. So much for HD knowing what fits what bike!!

There is no tach plug. There are 3 wires, ground, signal, and power. Each has a spot they get spliced in to. The crimp connector is for the signal wire. There's no reason for me to spell it all out here though. I'll explain it if you end up doing it and need the help. As long as you can turn a wrench, strip wire, and splice connectors then you can do this. It's not hard but just takes some patience. The rewards are worth it. I use the tach ALL the time.

You spelled it out fine for what I need to know at this time. Got attack comin in middle of next week.

Appears the wires are all common to the speedo.
