i have the 09 Dyna Manual but the wiring schematics are fair at best. they told me i needed to pay another $70 or whatever it was for the "Electrical Schematics Book" .. i looked in the manual but wasn't able to find exactly what i needed which you just provided me. I'm sure i'll be able to get it tonight and i'll take some new pictures as soon as i get it up .. thanks again to everyone for the help

That's correct: red/yellow is comming from the front and rear brake switch and runs to the brake light; blue is comming from the high/low beam switch end runs to the driving lights (front and rear).

You really should buy yourself a repair manual and parts catalog. I got my RM from Ebay for US$ 19.50 (s&h excluded).

Bobbed,
Re-reading your postings I just realised I have to ask you if the housing is made out of plastic or metal?

The ground wire has to be in contact with the part of the fitting tube where the staggered pins are secured in (see attachement).

it seems i have to use all the wires just about

not just one but both of the blue wires that went to the turn signals, the O/W and the R/Y

every other combination made both filaments light up at the same time

Here is a crappy iphone pic of the exact same tail light. It is a dual filiment (1157) bulb. 2 wires. I DID NOT run a seperate ground wire to the housing. The bracket and light came from road6 customs. I had to grind the powder coat out of the hole that goes over the axle to get a good ground. Been on over a year with zero issues. This is an 08 Fatbob. I could pull the seat and see which color wires I used. I do remember the running light wire being blue and I "think" the brake was orange/yellow?
