RE: Need Help Installing Dakota Digital Tach on 2005 SuperGlide
If all else fails call the tech.
They said to wire the tach to one side of the coil.
They also said to not use the speedo adapter because it shuts the scoot down where you suddenly let of the throttle. Said to just splice the feed into the existing harness.
Make sense form the manual so I'll give her a try.
Thanks much for the help.

Mud-I ordered a mount from Carlini. I changed my bars to drag bars and have had a hard time with mounts. The first one I ordered for 2 5/8", only had a 2 3/8 hole. The people at Carlini said they make one specificaly for my application.

I ran into the same thing with my '04. Turns out that they did away with the pink tach wire starting in 2004 and the newer tachs pick up their signal like the speedo does, from the serial data bus. I looked and tried to find a digital tach that would work with the new bus system in '04, seems like they haven't solved the problem yet.
Good luck with the techs, I tried several dealers and finally gave up on the idea of a digital tach, at the time it was not going to be. Put a regular tach on the bike and have been happy with it ever since. The smaller digital units are slick looking though.
