As Perch mentioned, the air that buffets comes up from below... the tank area. Want to get rid of the buffeting? Next time your out, put your feet on the passenger pegs... (if your knees let you bend that much... lol) I put my feet back there on long trips sometimes.... buffeting goes away.

It has way more with how you are sitting on your bike, than the anything else. The windshield is causing a low pressure area just in front of you, and the wind/air is rushing up from underneath based on your leg angle. Those of you with forward controls (like me) most likely have the worst buffeting.

You need to disrupt that 'bottom-flow-stream' of air, to get rid of the buffeting. But it's a crap shoot... you don't want to remove the cooling air stream from the engine.

You also want to wear something else than a mushroom (stock HD half-shell) on your head.... that will help a lot.

Guess everyone is different. I have a full face, and I wear it as a last resort (mostly when it is really cold out). I feel very constricted in it, I don't like the way things sound with it on. I feel stifled and almost like I'm not even on a motorcycle. Just not very enjoyable for me really. Of course I would love to go without a windshield too, (looks better) but every time I do, I regret it. (JMO)

Believe me, it will be a last resort for me as well. Mostly I rock the fulmer 3/4 with some old anons and a bandana but the full face will be my cold weather helmet, so to speak.

Although today I did the blasphemous thing and put earphones in the full face for the ipod. We'll see how that goes.

I like the fresh air most of the time. but below 45 degrees and over 55-60 mph the shield is helpful

I ride with a windshield 90% of the time. Don't mind it a bit....

don't mind the little boys who think they have something to prove. They call other people 'middle school' names because they're insecure.

During the past 6 months, there have been numerous, recent documentaries on the History Channel regarding Hells Angels, Pagans, Outlaws, Warlocks, Pagan's, Bandidos, Sons of Silence, etc. Know what..? Many of them have windshields on their touring model Harley-Davidsons. Why don't you go up to a Hells Angel or Pagan or Warlock who has a windshield and call him a *****.

I was looking at a Mephis Shades Classic Deuce Windshield but after reading some of these posts I probably wont purchase one. I ride year round and have a 3/4 Nolan N42E NCOM helmet for the cold and wet weather and a a Nolan Outlaw 1/2 helmet for ideal weather. I think Ill do without the windshield for a bit longer.
