Be nice to do that but I can't pay the $400 the stealer wants.
They have basically got all the money from me they are going to get.
Every time I go in there they want to charge twice what they are selling is worth so I either look for used or aftermarket.
Harley Davidson is pretty much for people that think brand is everything.
I'm right in the process of changing out my stock handle bars on my 08 Sportster Low to 10" mini-apes.... of course, all the preexisting cabling will not extend to the required new length...the HD dealership has a book that will tell you which cables you will need to have extended and also the electrical splice extension. Just a warning and heads-up don't be shocked when you find out the cheapest thing in this modification will be the handle bars.... the mini-apes cost me $65.00 and my total came out to $488.XX with all the cables I will have to replace....each set cost more than the handle bars did .Im new to all of this and that was one thing I didnt see coming but still going through with the modification I think it will be worth it in the end. Good luck.
Do you have the bars yet? Is there a big difference over stock?
I have a 99 FXD with the stock buckhorn bars. A buddy just gave me a set of mini apes from a WideGlide. When I set the new bars up on the bike, it appears that the cables and wires will all reach just fine. I will be surprised if I have to change anything.
This will be a winter mod. Gonna bury the wires and maybe move the signals down to the fork.

No surprises for me on the cost of changing out the Bars.
When I ordered my FXD I asked for a quote to have it equiped with them from the dealer I was immediately disgusted wth their ridiculous pricing.
I'm of the opinion that Harley dealers think if you buy a H-D motorcycle you have no sense of value whatever.
Either that or they think the Harley name on anything makes it worth its weight in gold.
Either way, it's become obvious to me they have no respect for their customers.
Don't fully understand the rules of ads for other sites but just leave your cables connected to the carb and clutch and measure how much more you need to your grips. All sorts of companies have cables to fit what you need. they deal with this stuff all the time!
