I thought I would give a shield another chance just for the winter months.
I always thought the windvest looked decent (for a shield) so I picked one up to give a try. I took one long ride with the standard screen and one with a Cee bailey summer screen and while it helped with alot of things I just didnt care for it.
I guess I am just not a windshield guy. This makes my 3rd and last attempt of running a shield on a Dyna.
So got a windvest with 2 screens in the classifieds if anyone is interested.
I hear ya man. I have the standard QD windshield and it does help at times but I realized after paying like $350 for the thing that I'm not much of a windshield guy either. I was thinking maybe a windvest would be a better option in looks and performance but maybe your report has tested that theory for me.
If I could get decent money for it and think of a good way to ship it, I think I'd be willing to part with my windshield.
I like the windvest much better than I did my HD quick detach. It looks better and I got less buffeting with it but just didnt help enough to justify running it. I will stick to just a full face helmet in the winter.
I'm with you.. However I keep mine as part of my
"Tour package" (saddlebags,windshield,tourpack.etc)
for my annual 1200 mile run north on the interstate.
Helps with the rocks and sand from the big trucks,
rain on bad weather days, but most of all the BUGS...
So about 50 weeks a year it hangs on my wall.. But I'll not be selling it.

You should give FastAire a try, for the prices you paid for those you could own 3 or 4 sizes of the Fast Aire, plus tints.
Went by the BMW dealer and they had a special on the Gerbing heated jacket liners with a single controller for $159. 2007FXDC bought the shield from me so took the shield money and bought the heated gear which I think I will enjoy more.

Haha, I see cash stays in your pocket about the same amount of time it does mine.
By the way, I changed my mind and want a refund.
Yeh, guys, I'm so done with windshields for good, I bought bberck's windvest so now I have my QD standard for sale in the dyna classifieds.
When it gets really cold again and I have an hour highway ride to go somewhere, I'm not sure how completely done with windshields I'll be.
