I'm 6'3 and bought a 09 low rider about a year ago.

I've still got the stock mids and highway pegs, but I'm planning on getting forwards, and a tallboy seat to make it fit me better. (saving for a PC-V first)

I'd say definitely bolt on some highway pegs and see if you like the way it rides while using them.

I find myself using the highway pegs anytime i'm not braking or shifting, and as far as just riding....taking turns whatever, I don't feel any loss of control when using them. Of course whenever i'm braking or running through the gears, i'm on the mids, so I can't give any comparison there, but I think I'll be happy with the forwards, just from my experience riding with the highway pegs.

I am 6 foot 1, and ride with mids. I personally like them better than forwards. Just put on the highway pegs, that way if you want to stretch out you can. But everyone is different. Rock the mids, since the bike comes like that, if they don't work, then buy the forwards.

Default need mids

I am 6' and I like mids with hiway pegs. I just bought a used Street Bob and it only has forward controls. Since it seems everybody prefers forward controls, does anybody have their take offs for sale? Mine is an '07.
Send me an email with location and price.
Thanks,
AzSteve

thanks for all the replies. I think I pretty much knew I was going to get such a mixed bag of answers before I even asked. I think I will keep the mids on it and have the highway pegs put on right away and see I need to switch to forwards later. Just a bit more info to answer some of the questions I was asked; Yes 2 years and 4th post, do you think Im rushing to fast into this . My inseem is 32. My background is riding dirtbikes, sportbikes and dualsports with this being my first (and first time I will ride) Harley (or any cruiser for that matter). I would certainly describe my riding style as aggressive and love to tear through the mountain twistees but also like to get out for some long trips, including having done 1400km in one day on a KLR650. I really love the looks of Last Saints bike (have it as my computers background) and would like to over time take the bike in that direction.

Stick, thanks for digging my bike. I'm 6'1, 36" inseam and 250 lbs. I definitely prefer mids, but I also have highway pegs for long runs just to stretch a bit. Everyone is different and all have different opinions, you just have to find what works for you. I also came from a dirtbike background... and years of riding old CB750's. My first HD was a 92 softail and the forwards were hell on me. Just not used to them at all. When I built my first dyna, I put forwards on it for about a week...then decided to go back to mids and have stuck with them ever since. I have a bro that's 6'4 and he runs 3" extended forwards ( but keeps the mid pegs for change ups.) So, everyone is different...just find your comfort zone...no one can give you this answer BUT YOU!

6' 1" here. I have tried forwards and like some have said just didn't feel right to me. I have a 34" inseam and just kick my heels out on the highway pegs if I get cramped up.

I'm 6' and I want a Street Bob too. Let me know how that will go for you when you will actually have the bike

6" with a 33" inseam; I've had forwards on other bikes but I prefer the mids on the dyna....I have hiway pegs for changing it up on the highway though. Mids will give you better control and keep the weight off your tailbone.....

6'2" and riding a FXDF with forward controls, just works best for me. Mids felt like my first bike: a Honda 450 Custom.
