Well I couldn't fight the itch and started one of my winter mods. I bought this street glide turn signal bar 6 months ago but couldn't get the ***** to drill into my paint set. So I finally did it today!! First winter mod almost complete. I gotta pace it out so I have things to do. Right now it's just drilled out and I mocked it up and works. I gotta wire it and remove the old sigs. To make the light bar fit flush at the mounting points I used my bench grinder and a lot of grind and check till I was happy. Slow and patient and it worked out perfect. I read a thread the other day about putting clear nail polish on the grinded metal to prevent rust, so I did that. For drilling the holes I had some scrap SB fender from ACKMAN and practiced twice on that. I have some 3/4 inch length bolts and works great. I'm letting the touch up paint dry and finish it up this week and get better pics up when it's done.
Mocked up!! You think people will see my lights if I left the old set on also!! Just kidding!!
that looks cool. that will clean up the struts nicely. i can't wait to start the winter mods either, unfortuantely my garage has been taken over by the other project ( the bathroom redo). hopefully that job is done soon.
Looks great, I really like how it cleans up the fenders.
Me I left the re-located signals in place till I get my bag setup figured out.
One thing I did during the fitting process was to take some 300+ sandpaper
and tape it to the fender. Then with small back and forth/up down/circular motions
did some final smoothing of the surface.
Helps to have a second person hold the paper in place too as you are putting a lot of pressure on it.
Giving credit where it's due, Thanks Tiffany! (Daughter reading over shoulder)
About damn time. Didn't that start out as a winter mod in 2008?
Seriously, looks great. Am looking forward to some good pics of the finished product.
Yup!! That's when I started the idea after I saw your bike and actually you're the one that told how to grind it. Last year the bike was brand new and now that I had the bike a year it was a little less gut wrenching!!! Thanks for the advice from forever ago!!
Don't know yet!! I think some Fred Kodlin Apes w/internal wiring, but I've been getting this bug to take apart the front end and getting the trees and lowers powdered and a 21" front wheel. We'll see I gotta sell some stuff and build up my Harley fund to keep the wife off my back!!

That looks good. What does it look like with the plate down there??
