I fall into the category of price for my choice. Just want to get eveyones thoughs/comments on their own reasons for picking a dyna over a softail.

I liked the Dyna's for the style I was after. Came off sport bikes and preferred the better handling of the Dyna's too.

Never really thought I would dig the WG but I got a great deal on one. Figured I would just sell it if I needed to and get something else at the price I was paying for it. Little did I know I would fall in love with the ride. Now I can't get rid of it.

WG had the look I liked. Younger bro bought an '04 and I loved the ride. I thought, "Why look like a hardtail iff'n ya ain't one?" Just seemed to be inherently dishonest styling. I think we have better handling, and I prefer the "A" motor.

My former rides were:
94 1200 Sporty ------------------------ First bike
98 Springer softail -------------------- Lazer red pearl, Sharp looking
2004 ElectraGlide Standard ------ Great for touring
2006 StreetBob ----------------------- Deep Cobalt, sweet looking with the solo seat and 180 tire installed.

I don't prefer one over the other but my next bike will be a touring bike. My riding habits include taking items with me and I could use the storage that the FLHTI provided. Did I say I plan on keeping my Dyna !

There is quite a difference in price. The dynas are heavy but are smaller, lighter and handle better than the softail. Dynas have the idle shake of a sporty but the torque, highway smoothness and power of the soft tail. The softail is more for show the dyna more for go, but styling is a personal thing. The softail has counterweights in the motor, the dyna does not so it will rev faster. The dyna motor is soft mounted where the softail is hard mounted, and without chassis stabilizers the dyna can be a bit squirrelly. The dynas has better ground clearance, I think.

The touring bikes are another category altogether..

Because a softail looks better than does a dyna, and who wants a cool lookin' ride?
Isn't a dyna some place you go to eat at?
