This was supposed the be the cheap portion of my winter mods. Not so much.

Yeah Akutz, I thought it was going to be a cheap mod too . The throttle cables are ok, they reach now I've passd them behind the forks instead of around the front as they come stock. I've found one or two places here in the UK where I can get hold of the longer clutch cable (not measured it up yet) for around Ł60 ($100 U.S). Likewise the brake line which I was going to change anyway, I can have one of those made up for around Ł25 ($42 U.S). As far as the wiring is concerned if the stock harness won't reach after taking off the tank, I'll just splice into it to extend the wires, no big deal (he says hopefully and with full realisation that this could be the kiss of death! )

Anybody ever changed a clutch cable on a Twincam ( I refuse to call it a Twinkie! ) Is it straighforward or can I expect a struggle of some kind?

Derv

yes sir! you need shrink wrap, solder, flux, and the solder gun. twist the wires, heat the wires, and apply the solder to the hot wires (i put a dab of flux on it first) so that melts in and the solder will flow into the wires... i solder wires on a daily basis if you have any questions let me knwo bud... youtube i am sure has a how to on it.

It all depends... do ya feel lucky?

I put 16" apes on my '02 Lowrider & had enough extra wiring. I did plan on having to extend the wiring though & had everything ready to do the job, but was pleasantly surprised when I found I had enough with a couple inches to spare. It also depends on the width & pullback on you bars as well.

Replacing the clutch cable is no big deal if you vae a service manual.
