Well I have part 1 of my turn signal project done. I bought these LED strut mount signals and am not sure if I stumbled onto something cool or if I'm all "wet". Anyhow, the pictures I saw of these installed showed them installed on the ends of the struts. That was gonna require drilling new holes among other things. I was playing around with them see where I could mount them and came up with this... I used the stock signal standoffs and put these small signals right on them like the stocker. I like the new look as I did NOT like the big round stockers. Even though they are way smaller, these things are really bright and I don't think I've sacrificed much in visibility. See what you think.
did you use the stock fender strut stand offs and cut them down or did the lights come with thoose stand offs. looks very clean though great job on the finsished product.
Hey man, that looks so cool. I got to get me some of those, Can you tell us about cost, where you got those from and install. What about front blinkers. Are you going to relocate your tag. I think that would look very good on your bike.
Thanks for the comments. To answer a few questions... I used the stock standoffs with NO modification. They fit right into the recess opening on the new signals. As for the wiring, I spliced/soldered them into the original wires and still utilize the original plug ends. There was no modifying anything on the struts. They really blend in when you view them from the side as they are the same width as the chrome strut. Also, they reflect into the strut to add a little more visibility. (See pic) Here is a link to them at Kuryakyn.
My plan is to go with the LED wraparound type for the front fork legs and relocate the license plate to the side with a vertical mount. So far so good.
