Default Heeeeeeeeeelllllllllllppppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!

So I was switching out my pipes today (I'll post another thread so you can see pics) and I was having problems getting the front header pipe flange to get on the bolts. It just felt like the bottom bolt was not sticking through enough. Well I finally just pulled it off and got in there and took a look, and THE BOLT HAD SHEARED OFF!!!!! So I got the headers on there, although barely on that bottom bolt, the nut just didn't get that far down, and I am freaking out. Can anyone tell me if this is a warranty issue? How would I even replace this bolt? It seems like it might not be something I can do myself, but I have no idea. I am sure this has been posted before, so if it has I am sorry, I am just freaking out!!! ANyone???

Relax, it's not that bad. It's just a stud which can be replaced and you should be able to do it at home. Getting it out might be difficult though.

Since you probably still have warranty time you could try that angle, but they may say "You broke it, you pay to fix it." Since you were the one doing the work on the exhaust and not them.

Get yourself another exhaust nut, and with the exhaust removed, double nut the stud in question. Once you have tightened one nut against the other, then use your ratchet with socket and loosen . The stud should come right out. Take your time with it.

I think the Flange/header bolt is $6.00 plus a tube of lock tight. If you cant get the nuts on try a pair of vice grips..

If all else fails, go with an easy out. It is a little tool you use to get the bolt out, kinda looks like a drill bit. you drill a hole in the middle of the stud and torque the easy out in there and stud comes out. Really easy to do, local hardware store or auto parts store should have one.

1+ double up the nut if you have the room. That should do it.

+1 on the easy out but dont buy black and decker brand they break under minimal ammounts of torque they are junk and cost 20 bucks there are some good ones at kragen or autozone for 10 dollars much more quality extractor set for half the price

this happened to someone else on the forum also. I forget who's bike it was but there was a good thread on it earlier this year with pics and lots of great ideas. I just remember it was someone with a street bob. One of the nicer ones on this board but I forget who's it was. (I do remember that the bike had a bobed rear fender)

You'll have a real head ache on your hands when the easy out shears off half way in the bolt (happened to me). What a nightmare.

Showing what a noob I am, I take it the turn is opposite, so to loosen I should turn right once I get the nuts on correct?
