Default Levers part number info

HD chrome levers part numbers 45075-96 and part number 45075-07

My understanding in the -96 has been replaced by the -07. Probably to include more years.

Does anyone have these two kits to tell me if there is anything in one kit that is not in the other? I notice when I see them each for sale, the -07's include info about an anti rattle chip. I have not seen any reference to this on a -96 so far.

thanks

What year is your bike? The later model bikes have a clutch safety switch. Therefore the clutch lever is different.

The newer left side levers have a 'nub' cast onto them for activating the safety switch. This is most likely the big difference in the 'kits' which should both have 'an anti rattle chip'.

Some people go for the older hand controls, probably for a cheaper price... thinking/asking about by-passing the clutch safety switch, which... most likely will end up costing more than it's worth.

Yes the difference is the new bike have a clutch cutout. You can fit either lever you want. BTW, the H-D levers are tremendously overpriced. I got some great black levers on my bike for 30 bucks(not to mention with cutouts in them) vs H-D wanting over 100. Your dealer sells parts from drag specialties. Look through their catalog and pick out something you like. Link to some levers: http://www.dragspecialties.com/fatbook/12/250/7727486 Also the levers I got have the nub for the neutral cutout switch. Fit just fine.
