I bought some chrome hand controls online and found the clutch lever is different. I have a switch under the clutch lever that I believe is for starting. When you pull in the clutch the switch is pushed in. The stock lever is made to push that switch when the clutch is pulled in. The after market one is rounded and does not push in the switch when the lever is pulled. I looked online at all the after market levers and none look like mine. I even looked on Harley's web site and looked at them. Again, it looks different. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
I don't know of any "clutch lever switch" on a Harley, but I have seen them on sport bikes for safety. I looked at my wiring diagrams and didn't see any part of the starting system going to the left grip....However, I might be missing something????? Anyone????
Great. HDs are starting to be made stupid squid proof. Do they have a kickstand switch, too?
If'n someone is too stupid to remember to figure out how to start the bike, they need to be removed from the gene pool. I'm sure glad Big Mommy is watching out for us! [8D]

I agree 100%... I was real disappointed when I learned that HD added the interlock. They are becoming more metric like all the time. They even added more idiot lights this year.
How long till we see a thread "Help, my bike WON'T START" ... and it's because the guy is in gear and didn't pull in the clutch?
Not sure if you want to start cutting the wiring on your brand new bike, but that would be very easy to bypass. All you'd have to do is separate the switch housing, snip the two wires going to that clutch switch, soldier and shrink wrap them together, and you're good to go...
