+1 The world is full of conceited people like this so it stands to reason that this forum will be as well. It was a disproportionate response by any measure and the second response was more of the same.

If it took more than five minutes to pop two tires off of those wheels than the dealer shouldn't even be changing tires. $80 is far too much.

When you think about it when you get new tire put on your vehicle is $15 per wheel to remove the old one, mount the new, new valve stems and balanced. For 4 wheels that is $60 whether is 15 inch rims or 22 inch rims. He's asking them just to remove the tires and it's going to cost $80. We all know it doesn't take an hour to do that, maybe 10 minutes. Unless you're using the three crow bar method mentioned above, might take a little longer.

I have a cut tire right now and I am waiting on a paycheck to buy a new one. In the meantime I checked with my dealer and asked them how much to change that tire (Fat Bob wheel, not laced) and they said $80. So I thought I should clarify that I would be taking the wheel off myself and bringing it in to which he responded "we get the same price either way"......WHAT?? Needless to say I am not taking it there and pretty safe to say they are on their way to losing my business....and not because it is $80, but because it is $80 if THEY remove the wheel OR if I remove the wheel.

Indy shop.....$20

I bought front and rear tires for my WG. On the rear I rode it in and let them do the swap. The front, I took the tire off and dropped it off and they mounted it for me. The labor on the rear was 1 hr, the labor on the front was $20. More than fair. If I had taken the rear wheel and tire in they would have charged me $35, iirc.

You know I usually do all my own work, but for things like this I now take them in if the price is fair. But for the life of me I cannot understand why so many want to criticize someone for questioning what seems to be an obnoxious price.

Lighten up.

Stahl, one thing I have learned, always call ahead and get prices for things, out the door prices. Ya know, [i]including tax, including valve stem, including liner, including tube...ya get my drift? Get the name of who you got the price from, then when you get there, confirm it all again, just to keep things straight. At that point, if you don't like the price, you can still go somewhere else.
