WOW!! Thats cheaper than what i charge ,When i get a part i charge myself $150 a hr to change it.Then take that the money i just earned and buy me another part ...and so on..So then when my wife bitches, i just tell her that you cant expect me to work for free...Then she's proud of me ,,because i'm making money on the side to buy my bike parts..So everybody's happy =)
Went to the dealership here in Michigan today and just needed to get tires dismounted from laced street bob wheels and I go back in to pick them up and they wanted to charge me almost $80 for 1 hour of service.................REDICULOUS if you ask me.................obviously didnt pay that..................sorry, just needed to vent about the dealerships and the way in which they treat customers who have bought two brand new bikes and a ton of parts from them, cant believe it. Side note does anyone have a suggestion as to where I could take the laced wheels after powdercoating to get them trued????? Thanks
so you walk in and have them take tires off of wheels expecting them to work for free and then come to a forum crying about the fact that they expected to get paid for their time and labor? what the hell man. how bout I come to your place of business and expect you to provide a service and not pay **** then talk **** on the internet about you.
Side note does anyone have a suggestion as to where I could take the laced wheels after powdercoating to get them trued????? Thanks
wherever you go, you should probably tell them right off the bat that you expect them to true the wheels for free....otherwise you might look like a jackass
If I understand the original poster he only took the wheels in and had the tries removed from them. They did not remove the wheels from the bike and did not put new tires on or balance the wheels and it took almost an hour. For that $80 I would agree is too much money. Most places i have taken my wheels to to replace the tire charge about $30-40 per wheel to remove tire install new tire and balance as well. I don't know why you are all saying he is whining. There is no way that should have taken more than 10-15 minutes per wheel and at $80 an hour $40 would be the proper charge.
The OP is crying about 80 an hour from the dealer. Wonder how he would feel paying 107 an hour here in NY ? To the OP what do you feel the dealer should have charged you ?

I'm in agreement with ken on this one.... that's about twice what you should pay to simply unmount the tires.
Now, if you took your bike in and not just your wheels... you got off lucky.
As for finding an indy near you.... I have no idea where you live..... you need to provide the general metro area where you are, so people can advise you of place of service.
My question is.......why didn't you call or ask them what the fee would be BEFORE?
I live in Michigan and our dealer ( Wolverine HD) charges $80 per hour. And just like an auto dealer, every job has a pre determined amount of time alot to it. Did you ask to speak to the Manager about it.
I just had a new rear tire replaced on my Low Rider. It cost me $122.31
It required a "snap cord @ $6.79, a 17" Tube @ $22.36, a 17" rim band @ $3.16, a tire disposal fee of $2.00 and 1.10 hours@$80per hr ($88.00) to re-mount and balance........and that was 1 tire.
