Good luck with your mods.... I'm sure you'll love the look. But I'm a chrome lover and always will be.
still more chrome bikes than blacked out ones. It's not something that will fade with time as it is not really a fad.

just to make it clear I am not following any fads ... when HD starting pushing out bikes w/ flat paint jobs I became hooked. I just don't care for all the shiny paint and chrome. and I've been into hotrods for years ... I'd go with a flat black or primer job any day over clear coat. and when I pass this bike down to my son it'll still be flat black.

as for chrome, it's okay in moderation to me ... however the parts I took some 80 grit sandpaper to look much better now

disclaimer: it's my ride, I'm just doing what I like w/ it ... if you like shiny paint and chrome go for it. each unto their own ya know ---photos soon, I need warmer weather for some paint!!!

outside of this forum, I have never seen a blacked out scoot. And even if I did, I love blacked out bikes.

If there was a darker colour than black, my bike would be that colour haha.

it makes me laugh when people say "blacked out bikes are a fad"

accessories on bikes are either black or they're chrome.

with really only two choices, i have a hard time saying that someone who chooses one over the other is following a fad.

blacking vehicles out or "murdering" them out has been around for a long, long time.

google "1932 ford" and once you get past the picture of resto-jobs you'll see they're all black with either black rims or dull stainless rims.

i have a jeep that's chromed head to toe so i'm not anti-chrome, i'm just saying.
