Don't even consider the one with the dented tank. Someone who loves and takes care of their machine would never show a bike with a dented tank IMHO. The 07' is priced just a little too high. Offer him 13K or walk. He'll take it in this economy if he's a motovated seller. I'd look some more, chances are it's not going to move anytime soon in the dead of winter, you have time. There's a ton of good deals out there right now. Is this your first bike? See what a dealership will throw in as far as leather, upgrades, fiinancing, etc.
No, this is my second bike. I did find another, same year in red (my second choice), 2K more miles, but more stuff (detach. windshield, pegs, shock guards) for the same price, so I have something to haggle with besides the titty shot
I loved this post..... honestly, it was like, I don't know how to explain it, sort of like when you meet someone you just "connect" with. It feels like you belong. That's how it felt when my booty melted into that seat....
My S/O started riding her own early last year. Got an old (85) Shadow to learn on, took the course, and got some miles under her booty. But she's always wanted a Harley so I kept my eye on craigslist and came across a great deal on a 2000 Lowrider. We went to look, she took one "sit" and fell for that bike almost faster than she fell for me when we first met.
She's all of 5'1" (and the 1" is a bit of exaggeration) and maybe 115# (bit heavier once a month for a few days, if you catch my drift...) and the LR is the only bike she's been on that makes her feel comfortably flat-footed at a stop.
I've had a lot of bikes - some I loved, some were "great dates", a couple I must have picked up at closing time. Adore my 09 FLTHC but really hoping the 07 Street Bob I'm looking at tomorrow is all the seller says it is, cause I really want another "little" bike I can toss through twisties.
Agreed. I grabbed a 2001 with 11,000 miles off ebay for 5300-
with all the goodies. I love the quick connect stuff. great for trips and a snap to take off. best advice to the OP. your in a GREAT position if you have cash. people are hurting and need to sell there toys to survive. sad but true.
Ok, but what if I can't go see the bikes on ebay? I mean, I can't travel to Louisiana... do people just buy these bikes sight unseen??? That makes me a little nervous.
If you go to Ebay Motors.......you can read all about the safeguards instituted. Is it 100% foolproof? No.......but many people buy bikes, cars, trailers off of ebay. Many through dealers. You are protected by a buyers protectection plan as well, especially if you go through PAYPAL when transfering funds. In October 2008 Our Daughter purchased a 2006 Heritage Softail Classic through Ebay. A friend of ours bought a used Cadillac from an elderly couple in Florida. Lots of people do it every day.
the 06 has a six speed tranny. go with the 07 to avoid the inner primary bearing problem. price is not that great though. I got an 06 lo with 342 miles for 11k and i ride it like i stole it.

You're probably the only one that's glad. I'm just wondering how many well meaning offers to assist via PM this post has generated. I'd be glad to help you get that perfect sig pic if ya want. LOL Glad you are a good sport. Gotta be hard to be a female around here.
I know how it can be tough to buy a vehicle sight unseen, but it really isnt that bad. I bought both of our Harley's (and my wife's old Honda) sight unseen. With Paypal you are protected, use that for your deposit. When you go to pick the bike up, bring cash. If the bike isnt what you expected, you dont take it and fight through paypal to get your deposit back. If you have legitimate reason (and proof, so bring a camera to take pictures) to not take the bike, then you don't take it. In reality, it is not much different that shopping through the newspaper classifieds, just in a slightly different order. You agree on a price first and commit first, then look at it. You still pay at the end, so you can always walk away.
If you find any bikes on ebay or craigslist that you are interested in, just post them up on here. I am sure many of us can take a look at and help you out with what questions to ask or catch things that the less experience may not.
In any case, I am sure you will be really happy with a low rider...or any other dyna you may decide on.
