Just brought her home. 6000 miles, great shape - couple of little "garage scratches" and two small tears in the saddle but nothing I can't live with for now. For $8500 including tax, tag, title I'm pretty happy.
Seller claims the paint is a Harley factory custom. Can anyone confirm that? On the right side of the tank there's a small "DCC" vertically etched into one of the flames. Looks to me like it was a cut out in the template through which the paint was shot, but just a guess. And wth would DCC stand for?
Congrats on the new scoot! You got a great deal as well. Sorry, but I've never seen that paint job but that don't mean much. I think DCC is some type of new paint. Hopefully there's others here that can answer that question.
Good looking bike. I think you did well with the price.
The paint does not appear to be a factory scheme. If it was an OEM custom paint option, it would have two numbers visible showing which number in the paint series it was, and the total number of that particular paint job in the series, for example: 79/150.
Thanks for the nice words, everyone. I AM looking forward to getting her out on the road and seeing how she feels. Would be nice to know about the paint but not a big deal.
Couple other things - got an electrical connection hanging down on top of the tranny - it appears to go to the battery and has a plug end with one male and one female kinda "banana plug". I'm guessing its for a Battery Tender? Sorry, too dark for pics tonight. Are those types of plugs pretty much standard or will this only fit the brand tender the PO had?
Pic 8 in the slide show is of the tank. The gas cap is the HD Skull billet model. Skulls aren't my thing so I'll be replacing it. I believe I need to hit a certain number of posts before I can list things in the Classifieds here, so if anyone has a burning desire to buy it, let me know.
I will be adding highway pegs and probably replacing the derby with a custom piece. Already scored a windshield on eBay and ordered a Motherwell luggage rack since I'm sticking with the solo seat. Need to see how my butt likes it - might consider a Sundowner solo if this one isn't comfy.
hanging thing is the tender, did he give you the wall plug aswell?
Nope. Bought the bike from a dealer in Lake City, FL who got it from Atlanta, GA. So nothing additional.
Shame, since the V&H pipes may be a bit loud for my tastes. But changing them to slip ons will require finding original header pipes. Oh well, so it goes when one buys used.
