For not buying into oil company hype? Pfffft.
Oil related engine failures are rare - even in cars where people *never* change the oil (just top it off when it gets low). Changing oil every 3,000 or 5,000 miles is like throwing money down the drain.

So is brushing your teeth. It wastes so much toothpaste.
I like Amsoil in my crank, but I use Heavy ShockProofŽ in the tranny and MT-90 75W90 GL-4 Gear Oil (Red Line) in the Primary, works great for me. I find their 10 wt fork oil to be a superior product as well
No link to back that up, Just an F.A.A. Airframe & Powerplant License. I`ve been a Jet Engine Mechanic since 1974.
They never changed oil in the big radial engines either, but that was because they consumed so much oil that they were in a constant state of oil change..
An R-3350 engine could barf out 2 gallons per hour.

I fly them and it is very true....
As for the old radials, most guys I know who own one buy their oil by the barrel.
I've had good luck with Amsoil in my Road King. I use Syn3 in my Low Rider (I know what you're gonna ask...don't go there). I think people get too **** about their oil. As long as it's a premium quality synthetic I think the differences are small. I don't lose sleep if I use Amsoil this time or Mobil 1 or Syn3 the next time. People have personal preferences..I get that but really... at the end of the day who cares?
