It's pretty easy to tell when a newbie asks a question with a sincere desire for help, even if it has been addressed a thousand times. I enjoy sharing my experience if it will be helpful. Y'all put up with my inexperience and I like returning the favor!
Those who come right out and just say it looks like **** and nothing else probably don’t have the ***** to do anything to their bike that doesn’t come off the shelf. Anyone who has dared to do irreversible “modifications” to their bikes understand its some times a hit or miss and the last thing thats wanted is to discourage innovation. Who knows, you could mangle up a nice top clamp one day and the next post up some other wicked *** mod nobody has ever thought of. Keep it up.
By the way, I think you should take that clamp and go to town on it. Bore the whole middle out or come up with some other design and cut it up. Cut a bar and shield out of the top of it.
For the rest of you who ask questions about the same bolt-on crap that has been beat to death, learn how to use the search function.

Ding, ding, we have a winner! I don't understand the constant need to bombard the board with every little thing you may not know. Do some research for Christ sake, take a little initiative. Make a phone call, search the internet, search the board. Most of this bolt-on/stick-on tacky bullshit comes with instructions! All I'm saying is, at least Try to help yourself before running to the computer and asking here. (IE, the guy asking if Harleys have two cylinders. WTF https://www.hdforums.com/forum/the-g...cylinders.html) Another thing I have seen here that irks the hell out of me, people asking about others mods. Not just, "That looks cool, what made you think of that?" or "Where'd you find that?" When someone posts an original, or original to this board, mod and someone responds with, "I want that. Where and how much? How did you do that?"
Well I guess I was just one of those members that asked about pipes, stage 1 air cleaner and a fuel management. To all: Please accept my apology for taking up your valuable time answering my question. Although your comments and ideas were a tremendous help, I now see that I have err’d.
Also, I hope that my thread asking for information about adding a tach to my FXD did provide SOME others with a sense of satisfaction for the help that they provided. I was able to do that project but I had problems. Another forum member gave me his phone number and extended an offer to call him. I did and that’s how I complete the project. It was a wiring problem but basically it a “bolt-on” modification. I guess it really wasn’t a real modification after all.
Again, please accept my regret for wasting your time.
hey DGDyna... do some real mods like taking all the safety features off you bike!
everyone loves those! haha! you should see the shovel build... real deathtrap!!!
sorry for the hijack!
I really gain a lot from the forums and internet. good way of networking and finding new stuff that you are into out there. suppose you have to take the good with the bad. different people are into different ****. besides, are the multiple postings really that bad?! look at the title, and move on to the ones you like.
It's just my opinion, but if someone wants to post a mod of theirs and doesn't want to receive any negative feedback about it they just need to say "I'm sensitive please be kind!"
I'm sure everyone would definitely respect their wishes!
Hell no! If anyone did that, we'd pick on him for being a ***** biker!
