Default AC Question

Just wondering if the round AC style sticks out more than the foorball style, I have the stage one done with SE air and slipon mufflers but I find my leg hits the football AC, my bike is a 2008 Superglide, was thinking about the round style AC, it looks a little smaller? any comments?

I have an '08 FXDC, I went with the round SE backing plate used on earlier years and a smooth round cover, it doesn't stick out near as far. I don't know if you can use a round cover on the backing plate you have though. I also tried the nostalgic large round cover, it wasn't any better than the stock cover for knee room.

If I can remember mine has the round backing plate but has stock filter and just stock football cover, can I just change the filter to a K&N and put the round style cover on there?

Yes. I got rid of my football along time ago and went with the Ness B/S AC, K&N HD-0800 filter. Had Mud cut out the center of the football and I changed the insert on it and it's (was) my setup. I goofed and sold it and installed the HD Heavy Breather. Hated that thing and went back to the Ness B/S and HD-0800 with a different cover. Like an idiot, I had sold my prior setup.

Total clearance. Never a problem. Your SE stage 1 a/c is about the same as the Ness. You just need a HD-0800 K&N and a cover. I bought another 07 Streetbob football from a forum member to have MUD (forum member) cut out the center for me, but haven't done it yet.

Many of the SE 1 a/c's will accept the football also. I would say they would stick out about the same.
