I want to change the football AC on my '01 SG. It has a round K&N HD 0800 filter and back plate setup on it now. I really like the old school round cover look and was wondering if an old classic round AC cover fit on this setup?
If its larger than the o.d. of you're filter than it'll fit. A million people on here have done it every way it can be done. A few minutes of searching will give ya some ideas.
I like the small round AC covers and back plate because they show off more of the beautiful engine. The football also gets hot and is closer to the leg. There are several sizes of the round ones. I like the smallest and use Fuelmoto backplate.

Check the link above. Mines the second post from the bottom. Available for you AC set up at dealership in chrome. I had mine powdered coated wrinkle Black to match the motor. You may have to copy and paste top line to browser.

I tried that first. I am pretty good at internet search techniques. However, that is the good and bad. Searching the forums resulted in Information Overload and then it became extremely difficult and ultimately way confusing to find any posts that answered the question. I spent DAYS looking for an answer using search... I found a few possible but nothing that clearly indicated that an old school round A/C cover would work with this common air filter setup or what modifications would make it work.
I like the pure Harley Davidson look and I am not interested in anything but a classic round HD A/C cover.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
