Default Fat Bob vs Street Bob - How do they compare?

Howdy All,

I've had my 2008 Street Bob for bit over 2 years and definitely like the ride. I have however, been thinking of changing it up a little and going to Fat Bob. Twin discs, possibly better handling, etc.

Has anyone here owns/ridden both and can compare them for me? Which one would you take and why?

Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers

Vlad

Own a '09 Bob...love it...got it after a year of riding a nightster so I think it's fairly smooth...my best friend owns an "08 obiese bob...I took a quick ride on his...felt smoother than my SB...with that said I love the vintage look of the SB and wouldn't trade it for anything else (right now)...

I debated between the two but went with the Fat Bob. I liked the SB but the FB just fit me better and handled better. I'm 6'3" so not a small guy.... Beyond that I do think the bigger front tire and duel disks do help with handling, but for me it was mainly fit.

I test rode both back to back.
SB is a nice bike but the mids felt cramped to me.
The Fat Bob was the winner hands down.
Handled better, more comfortable seat, forward controls and overall smoother ride.
And a side effect of the improved handling is that even though it is the heavier of the two it feels faster.

Street Bob is still a looker though and if I had rode one with forward controls my decision may not have been as easy.

few differences. SB comes with a solo seat, FB dual....SB has "mini apes" and FB has drag bars, FB has larger tires which IMO help to not follow grooves in the road so bad and corner really well. FB has solid mag wheels and SB don't. Obviously you got the dual vs. single headlight. I suppose those are the major differences but they share the same drivetrain just like all the Dynas so it's just a personal choice as most folks end up changing a lot of stuff out that made them what they originally were.

I would not trade an 08 streetbob for a fatbob. What's the point? Instead of spending 5-6 grand on trade in and purchase, buy a nice 6 piston setup for the front, 4 piston rear(PM, HHI), great rotors(weightless rotors, lyndall rotors), HID conversion for the headlight, and whatever else you want to make it what you want it to be.

+1 - unless you have too much money, a trade in is a total waste of money. And the "better handling" thing is nonsense.

+2, some forward controls, drag bars (or similar) you are close for small $$.

I have ridden both and they each are very nice bikes. I have a 06 Streetbob and my buddy has a Fatbob (not sure of the year, I think the first year they came out). I prefer my Streetbob though because it feels like I am sitting "in" the bike and not "on" it. The Fatbob just feels too top heavy for me. I guess if I came from a Sportster it would feel natural. (I am not bashing the Sportster either)

Talking Own both

I couldn't make up my mind on the two so i bought both used i love them both but im 6'1 and the st is really cramped but it gets better gas mileage and the handling is far far better on the fat bob it is no comparison on speed fat bob has v&h big radious street bob has long shots both have solo seat and stock fat bob seat the seat is so comfy for a single rider on the fb i got one for the st bob if you ask my opinion trade up and if you like your ride then modify it to be better fit for you if you dont like it buy the fat bob and still you will mod up, and my first bike was the nightster it was very fast but very uncomfortable and i was to big for it haha, good luck either way you go great bikes man
