Upon raising my tank i noticed that my fuel vent line had a tight kink before connecting to the larger line that runs out of the tank panel. So I was thinking about adding a 90 degree elbow to the line to prevent this. There is a plastic connector that I was going to replace with the elbow, but then I got thinking... Is that a check valve? The manual doesn't mention anything about this part.

 

My WG was a CA emissions equipped bike, and it had 2 little plastic thingys in that area. 1 was a check valve and not sure what the other one did. Not sure what is 49 state and what is CA, but yes, I did have a check valve on mine...
