Ok guys I made a stupid and probably costly booboo today.
I was in the process of running my power wires for an amp install and like the stubborn person I am I wanted them ran under the tank instead of under the console. To make a long story short I never thought about the fuel line and lifted the tank up some to stick a small piece of wood under the tank to hold it up and I heard something go "SNAP" and saw fuel leaking. I scrambled to find something to catch the fuel in and then saw what happened. The plastic quick disconnect on the fuel injector end of the fuel line broke where the hose goes on. I figured out how to get the hose completely off and now just gotta figure out if I can get just that part or what.
Will Harley sell me just the disconnect that goes on that end of the hose and if so I wonder how much? Or will they just give me the option of buying the whole hose assembly and who knows how much that is.
Thanks thats what I was afraid of...costly little bugger. Check valve assembly is fine. There has to be a way to get just the connector. Anyone got one lying around?
i think the check valve assembly that you are talking about is what screws into the tank and the quick disconnect snaps in. The part that broke is on the other end of the hose where it goes onto the fuel injection assembly.
Heres an image I found somewhere else and it shows the new updated part. Mine broke at the same exact place as his. I can see they fixed the problem with the new part and it being metal instead. Googled around and seems I am not the first one to break the fuel line there. Thanks for the help.
yeh I seen the updated fairing brackets...just wondering if a low powered mig might fix it tho. And yes UltraKla$$ic I should just quit while I am ahead but I just can't help it.
Might try to repair the bracket like one of the photos above and go ahead and brace the other one better.
