Default FXD wheels on Street Bob question

I bought some cast wheels off an '09 FXD (Super Glide) and are going to put them on my '07 Street Bob to replace the spokes.

Can anyone please confirm the only thing I need to do is put in 1" bearings?

The set came with the front FXD rotor.

Also came with some sleaves/spacers...will I use them?

Will my sprocket fit on the rear wheel without issue?

Waiting for warmer temps to actually do it, but want to know what challenges may be ahead.

Thanks!

New 1" bearings with your old spacers and you should be set.

Your original rear pulley should bolt up fine. Use new bolts on the pulley. Loctite and torque them.

+ 1 on the new 1'' bearings and your old spacers...the bearings are a pita to get out if you try yourself.

Thanks guys! Wheels came to me without bearings, so that helps since I'm getting them chromed. I'll have the dealer do the bearings I think when they mount new ME880's. I'll do the pulley myself.

This site has helped so much in planning and executing my mods!

I got the chrome wheels from Chrome Pros....this sig pic doesn't show them well, but i'm in the process of posting some other pics....they were nice....easier to clean than stock for sure.

The bearings are about $30-40 cheaper from Zanotti's than the dealer....I hammered mine in with a 4" square piece of ABS plastic and an 8lb sledge. I put the bearings in the freezer overnight to help, and used WD40 as well.

I had to clean a little extra chrome and gunk from the inside of the wheel housing...make sure you check it before you give it to the dealer, or at least mention it.... otherwise the bearings may seat crooked or not seat all the way. They are TIGHT in the chromed wheels.

Also, if you have a few extra bucks, get the chrome spacers from Zanotti....and some axle covers....the wheels look somewhat better if you do. Don't waste your time looking for Chrome brake disk bolts.. they don't make them (so the dealer told me) for the front of that model...well at least not the 07 superglide. They do make them for the rear brake disk and pulley though... weird, but I guess saved me a little money

I would suggest the ME880's...I went with ME880 110 front, and a Pirelli Night Dragon 180 on the rear to get max width, instead of the ME880 170...but the Night Dragon is only actually about 170...so it's not worth it to bust the set up.
Haven't ridden much with the tires, but so far they track a LOT less on grooves in the road than the dunlops. I'm liking em already.

good luck!

Glydiator, thanks! I'll get the bearings from Zanotti, and the chrome spacers and axle covers. How did you find the part numbers? HD website or something?

Also, have you looked into other rotors? The stocker's are pretty plain. Does anyone know if these will fit?

my bro. just did this with his 07 dyna. the 1 inch bearing doesn't sit flush in the 08 and up fxd cast wheels. he had to get some spacers machined to make it work. it's not a straight swap, but you can make it work.

sickwithit, what rotor should I be looking for? Special size like 300mm?

Also, others have said it will work with just 1" bearings...guess I'll find out at the dealer. I can't fabricate so I'll have to have the dealer make it work...sounds like more $$$$....can anyone else confirm the need for modified spacers?

I put a 1" bearing set in an '08 Fat Boy rear wheel that had 25mm bearings. On one side the bearing did not drive flush with the surface. If that happens to you then a little will need to be taken off of the spacer on that side. Make sure the disk centers in the caliper. I was fitting the wheel to an '07 SBob and had to custom make all spacers for fitment.
