Crap...I didn't think you could use the stock wires. I snipped the stock wires at the lamp so I could get the bucket off. I should be able to splice them???? I tried like hell to pull the wires from the original lamp and they were not moving at all. I really don't want to have to re run the wires that came with the new bucket. The 7incher looks so much better on the front of the BOB. IMO. I will post some pictures this weekend when she is all done. Next question....keep it chrome or powder coat it flat black???
As for getting the wires out of the grommet you have to pull like hell to break what ever adhesive or sealer HD uses. I them resealed the grommet with Liquid Tape.
when i did my swap... i cut the grommet with a razer blade and super glued it back around the wires after i feed them into the fatboy bucket. this swap should take all of 30 minutes...
man i am way to ****, i soder and shrink everything. sucks to have nut get loose and ground out shorting your system and leaving you on the side of the road.... not that i have been there
i went with a 7.5 lamp that i found in a buddies garage, made a riser block to put the lamp where i wanted it in the trees
So... I'm gonna do this thing. The questions I have are:
1. Having taken the Fat Bob headlight apart, what is everyone doing with the second plug? I can see that you would use one for the single H4 in the new Fat Boy headlight but the other one...
2. What dimensions do we need to have on the mounting block for the new 7-inch headlight? The recommendation when I called the place where I plan on getting the headlight was to get the headlight and then figure out what size mounting block I need, but I want to order it all in one go. It almost seems like using a straight mounting block will cause interference with the frame. Do we need one that puts the headlight forward some too?
