i just put 103 flat tops out of a 08 police bike in my 08 dyna sg. with se 255 cams,a/c .030 head gaskets and power commander, thunderheader exhaust, can't do any head work right now does this sound like a good set up.
I'm guessing you either had a 103" or had your 96"/88" cylinders bored out to 3.875" ...? Not sure what pistons come in the police ... whether they sport higher compression ratio than stock ... otherwise, what's the point of it ...? (More durable ...?)
From what you stated ... doesn't sound like a bad way to start .... should 'up' the horsepower and torque over stock set up ....
That should not warrant the incremental expense of compression releases in my opinion ... depending on where you get it done, that could easily run you upwards of $100 ....
If you are contemplating having your heads ported and polished (or replacing them with performance heads) in the future, it would make more sense to do it then ... you might consider further increasing your compression ratio at that point with pop up pistons, or by using a head with a smaller combustion chamber, or 'decking' your heads ....
Realistically, our 96's run about 9.5:1 compression....you're saying if you increase the compression by .1, compression releases should be installed. C'mon....
Most people don't begin thinking about compression releases until they reach 10.0:1 or higher.
