Thumbs up Just got a really nice new jacket

For any of you guys that are like me and don't care if your gear is "HD approved", I just picked up a new riding jacket on closeout that is really, really nice:

http://www.newenough.com/street/clos...le_jacket.html

I got the black one, size large tall. I'm 6'6", 220, and it fits just right, snug and plenty long enough. It just came in today, and for that low price, it's a super nice jacket with some new features I've never seen in a jacket before.

The first is the interior face shield pocket. I have a dark smoke shield for my helmet but I never use it because I hate carrying around two shields, and I'm always afraid I won't be home before dark and the smoke is too dark for nighttime riding. Problem solved. The pocket is very soft inside, and the shield wraps around your ribcage, totally out of the way. I can't even tell that it's in there. Very, very nice.

Second is the windproof snap-together band around the bottom of the jacket. Great thinking there, since it's a longer jacket I can see how drafts could get up underneath.

Third, the vents in the chest. When you open them, you can snap the two inside flaps together to hold them open. Very clever.

The jacket is waterproof and comes with a zip-out liner. Of course, it doesn't include the $100 HD logo, but I really don't care. I also own a Joe Rocket mesh jacket that I love. I actually did consider a HD branded jacket, but you just get so much less for so much more $$$.

Highly recommend this jacket and New Enough.

Correct me if I am wrong but the HD jackets are not made with U.S. leather anymore. I also think they are put together in Taiwan....... But like you said "who cares", If you like it, Buy it....

I was checking out some jackets at the dealers, $400 and up for a Chinese jacket with HD logo. Oh but they did have some closeouts for $250 if you can wear a super xxx. My leather jacket was $100, no HD logo but it does a real good job.

Yeah HD clothing is not US made, but neither is this Joe Rocket. Still, HD stuff is just too expensive for me to justify. I'm not really into leather jackets, I much prefer textile, and I must have a tall size, so I'm never able to try on or buy jackets off the racks at the dealer anyway. I do have a pair of textile HD pants that I like, but other than that, I'm sticking to my sportbike/sport-touring type gear

Thanks, didn't know about that site. I'm not sure the HD premium is worth it, you can get great gear for half the price of official Motor Clothes. I've always been a fan of TourMaster's stuff.

Gotta tell you, I'll take the classic traditional good looks of leather over that plastic stuff any day. That is a seriously butt-ugly jacket.
More power to you if that's what you like.

Fair enough. I'm just not that into leather, that's all, even though it's more of the "classic HD" look. I like the versatility of textile. Leather would probably be a bit more protective in a get-off, but I bet it's close. I don't care much about how a riding jacket looks, more how it works. I think this one looks fine, but honestly that's the last thing I think about when shopping for one.
