Sears red jack modification
Actually I found the lift useful when adding the fluid to the primary case; when the bike's on the side-stand you can't get a full measure in before it begins to overflow. Also it's much easier removing & replacing the derby cover and fasteners (and checking clutch adjustment) w/ the bike upright, even though you needn't lift it completely off the ground.
Ya know I did this mod to my red jack but, I still have to stand my LR straight up and lift up a little on the jack handle to get it to go under my bike. For some unknown reason my jack doesn't go all the way down even if I stand on it.

Is your bike lowered?
Try driving the front end up on a block, I use a couple 1x's under the front wheel, and a 2x under the stand, makes it much easier to get the jack in just the right spot, then I lift while still on the stand.

HD calls for a quart in the primary, but it doesn't always hold an entire quart. Just like in the other two holes, you gotta watch how much you put in. Not thinking, I dumped a whole quart in my tranny, but I think that's the least critical of the three holes. I think. I assume the tranny has a breather on it somewhere. Most of them do. At least, I hope so.
I've got this thread saved in my 'favorites' and I may (probably should) get around to modifying my jack one of these days.
It's not urgent for me just yet. Vic decided to do some serious work on his bike and most likely had to put the bike on and take the bike off the lift a lot.
But that's just an excuse on my part. I'm very good at coming up with excuses to not do something. Plus the fact (and I'm being serious this time) on my jack, the lift rails don't seem to be anywhere near as stout as they are on Vic's. Pretty sure I wanna put spacers in between the 'U' rails. They look like they could collapse under a load.
That's not an excuse. Honest.
Unless your bike leans on the stand a little different than mine, when it starts to overflow? It's full.

I didn't do any major mod to the bike that required lifting it alot. I just absolutely hated having to get up and down when using the lift adapters. Line then up, slide the jack underneath, realign the adapters, bla bla bla. I found it to be a very frustrating lead to performing any work. What spurred the mod was helping a forum member out (DynaMiteBuzz) who had a J&S jack. It became clear why that jack doesn't require or need the adapters. The pads are wide enough to allow the bike to be picked up by all the flat sections of the frame.
