I bought the jack. Then I bought the bolts and the hacksaw to cut the brace. Brace came off much easier than I expected. I went to put the 1/2in bolts through and the holes are not 1/2in. So I went and bought a bit so I could bore out the holes a bit more. Got back, bore 1 hole and my battery on my cordless drill dies on me. HAHA.

The 10 minute job I thought it would be turned into much longer. I prepared like a champ... sigh.

HAHA. This mod is awesome though. I was pissed when I saw the jack didn't work. Thanks to your ingenuity, I'm able to use it and my wife doesn't hate me.

I picked up a similar model from Harbor Freight. Did the Dyna mod but used the original bolts. Works 4.0

That's great! You know what? Maybe I should add in a "tools/parts needed" list to the original post. Might keep someone from getting into a situation like you did. My apologies. Glad it all worked out for you in the end.

What was the issue everyone was having?

I have a similar jack that I think I got from Pep Boys and it works right from the box.

When I first start to lift the bike, it feels like it is going to lean away from the jack, but it goes up sturdy and I can actually sit on it.

The only issue I felt the need to address was getting away from HAVING to use the dyna lift adapters. After using a J&S lift and seeing that it's built wider than the irregular dyna frame I modified my sears jack to lift the bike at the flat points of the frame rather than at the irregular points.

If you're happy with how you lift your bike, that's great.
