I don't think the lift would go all the way down if you had a center post with the pads moved to the outside.

That makes sense, as loading it into anything waist high can be a little cumbersome. Good idea.

Ill have to see if that applies to my Costco, Black Jack. I removed the wheels on the jack to give it some clearance but, I like having the wheels on.

It should, lo-rider welded a bar back into place. Post 130

On my phase II lift mod (earlier in this thread) I showed how I welded a new spreader bar to support the cantilever load. It is not centered vertically, but roughly flush w/ top of channels (touching inside top). Very simple & easy, and does not interfere w/ fully lowering.

I did this mod also, but found it does need the spreader bar that lo-rider has installed. I have an 04 Ultra Classic which is about 900 lbs. and it doesn't lift the rear as soon as the front. It actually slid back a little before I figured out what the problem was. I have two of the jacks, one I keep at work, the other at home. The only problem is making sure I have the right jack for the right bike, LOL. My 03 Wide Glide is soon going to go under the knife, bumping up to a HQ 113" in the next several weeks. So the jack mod will be of great benefit.
Thanks SC- Longhair

You tried using the modded jack under an Ultra? Yeah, this mod would probably need the support bar to be reinstalled to lift that bike. No way I would trust lifting that weight to 4 bolts, even grade 8. The WG should be find without it.

For the record, I'm fairly certain my 07 wg front end comes up first before the back end so I don't think it's a weight problem regarding your ultra.
