I'd like to hear from anyone who used Grade 2 on this mod?
bad call. grade 8 man, i don't want the bike hitting the ground or you. order them if you have to. it's chump change compared to bike/you damage

You can get the grade 8 bolts at Lowe's or Home Depot.

The original jack configuration has the weight bearing cross beams directly over the lift arms so the only force the bolts have to resist is sheering force. Once the beams are extended horizontally to the sides of the lift arms they also have a leverage force on them that requires much more durability.

Yep, Lowe's has them in the drawers in the hardware department.

Neither Home Depot nor Lowe's had Grade 8 or 5 in 7 inch. I see on the other thread where someone used what looks like Grade 2 bolts. I know I can order them from a multitude of places, but I have Grade 2 ready to install and I want to do this now.

Would like to hear from someone who used Grade 2 without issue.

i'm going to be the jerk/captain obvious.

the radio silence was everyone trying not to tell you that you are being obstinate and are making a huge mistake... basically, "We told him, now let's shut up and watch for the inevitable failure post"

get the right bolts, there's no reason to rush. what's patience and $8 vs $100-1000s in hospital bills/lost wage/toasted leave/ life-long disability/fatherless kids/ loss of consortium/etc... if you get smushed or $100s-1000s repairing the bike you were trying to [ whatever you are doing]?

do the right thing. you aren't hearing from grade 2 people because they are dead under a 700lb bike. c'mon man... cut the bullshit, seriously... please stop rushing and protect yourself and the investment. nobody wants you or your bike hurt. it's no good for anyone in your immediate circle.

if you see someone about to make a mistake, you say something... right? wouldn't you?

Will grade 2 lift a bike once? Yep.
Twice? Probably
Thrice? Who knows?
Will it withstand vibrations and shock from the work being performed? Again, who knows.

I DO know grade 8s will do all the above plus keep the bike airborne for a year solid. Been there. Done it. Still holding.

I couldn't find any bolts that size & length locally in anything LESS than grade 8, so the cost and choice was simple for me...
