I just scored one of these on craigslist so I am going to be doing this mod over the weekend. Just in time to do my spring fluid change, has anyone changed the hydraulic fluid in these yet? I was thinking it might be a good idea since I don't know how old this jack is.

I changed mine a few years ago. I bought some hydraulic jack fluid from Harbor Freight Tools. I think I watched a YouTube video on changing the fluid and bleeding it as I can't remember how I did it. Can't say it made any difference and I can't even remember why I did it either.

I've got my dad's old Blackhawk service jack. I know for a fact that the fluid hasn't been changed in 40 years. If it makes ya feel good, go for it. Nothing to lose. I doubt it's necessary unless you go to use it and it won't pump up.

Cool, I wasn't sure on the change intervals for these. I'll just buy some oil and top it off for ***** and giggles.

I am getting ready to tackle this mod and I like the look of yours.

Do you have a parts list you could post?

Thanks!

You Betcha

Just took some of this..., some of that - then threw it together - LOL

Bolts - 1/2"-13 X 7" - Qty 4

Nuts, locking - 1/2"-13 - Qty 4

Washers - 1/2" x 1 1/4 - Qty 16

Spacers - 1/2" x 1" L - 4

Angle iron - 1" x 1" X 9" L (I cut out the existing cross member w/ angle grinder - then installed this angle farther back to make room for the kick stand)

What you can't see - I cut 4 pieces of 1/2" pipe..., then installed them under the arms (two each side..., with the bolts going through) to give the arms more rigidity

Black krylon to paint the thing after I was done modifying

HTH

SC-Longhair:
This works well 👍🏽 Just had to adjust the outside to outside from 47cm to 49cm but now the Fat Bob is up there as easy as one two three...
Thanks from Norway 🤙🏽

I did mine right after I bought the bike. Works great for storage/moving BUT the problem is ALL drain plugs are under lifting pads & that's the main reason I bought! :-(
