I just purchased the complete setup (32109-08B, software, cables, DVD) from my dealer for just $20 more than the House of H-D price (plus sales tax of course).
I just added SE 80678-08 slip-ons to the work the dealer is doing to my bike, so they knocked 20% off the price of all parts, which brings the price of the SEPST down to $448 with cables, software and DVD.

Are there pre-set maps available to use with the SEPST? Can the average guy tune his own bike without having to bring it to the shop?

There are maps with the software but they are only for Harley/SE hardware and even then its not for every combo. Having said that, I found that the stage-1 map for SE A/C and pipes was spot on for a bitzer A/C and Remus pipes too.

As long as you have SE hardware you can generally find a matching or close MAP, then SmartTuning to dial it in. For non-SE cams its more problematic and you probably want a dyno run to check you are along the right tracks.

IMO the Power Commander is the way to go.

Only issue people talk about is water. well, I dont ride in the rain, if so just secure the pc so I dont have water issues.

With all the research I have done, I like the fact that I can do ANY mods to the bike and download maps, or even get custom maps for free!
No running to the dealer for every little tweak and dishing out 250 bux every time.

Plus, its fact that the HD and SE tuners must comply with emissions limits and can not truly adjust the tune to make the bike run the best.

Hell, PC even has a map for a bike with factory pipes and ac, the map is designed to tune the bike past what moco can do from the factory.
Bike runs cooler, and has a greater response.

Again, jmo....

That's just not correct. With the SEPST (& SERT) you can adjust the AFR and timing to whatever you like. It certainly does not have to meet any emission standards.

If anything, its the other way around. PowerCommander is limited in its functionality because it can only adjust a limited set of parameters because its a bolt-on to the output of the ECU. A SEPST or TTS lets you adjust all the tables in the ECU.

As far as I know, the PC has only one big advantage - its tuneable at Indie bike shops, who don't need to be familiar with HDs at all, just with PCs.

My only response to this is...it relieves the customer of being tied to a dealer. Dealers don't always have the customer's best interest at hand.

Gee, based on that in-depth response that the PST is the best for harleys would just make me want to run out and buy one. NOT.

How about you explain why you think it's the best option for tuning?

Also, what experience have you had with TTS, Thundermax w/auto-tune, pcIII/V, etc? Have you sat down and tuned any one of these devices? How about the SE tuners? Ever tuned one? Master tech does not equal 'qualified to run a dyno'. (I know Im not qualified either so we're on a level playing field.)

Loving the info coming out in this thread since this is exactly where I'm at with my bike right now. The Big Sucker will be here this week, so I need to find a tuner.

So...

Power Commander V is about $369...
TTS is about $424
SEPST is about $469

For the extra $50 bucks, it seems like the TTS is a better long term solution. And then, the SEPST is for those that just want to put a Screaming Eagle emblem on their bikes (I might be guilty of this).

Anyone have any opinions about this? I mean, these seem like the three top solutions.

The folks at rbracing tend to prefer the TTS system. Of course -- They sell it and they can't sell the Harley SEST.

Grain of salt time.

They DO say that they both work about the same but that they (many of them Engineers) claim interpreting Hieroglyphics is easier than decyphering the Harley Instruction Manual for the SEST.

Here is where I found their opinions on tuning systems. I like them. I think they're uniformly insane, which I can relate to. They leave you with no doubts as to what they think.

http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/lsr21.htm

If you don't want to read the parts leading up to their discussion of tuners, it's only a little way down to scroll. It starts under the headline --

Self-Tuning Myth

And goes from there.

I'd like to hear from people that have used both TTS and SEPST. Which one is more user friendly and easy to use? And why do you think that?
