This one comes up on a periodic basis. It's the active intake solenoid connector -- used on the European bikes. Search the forum to see what this thing does for our European friends. The stock plastic air cleaner has a slot to hold it in place. Most other air cleaners don't have a slot for it. As others have said, just zip tie it out of the way so that it doesn't flop around or melt through engine contact.
Found that when I replaced my AC also. Figured if it wasn't hooked up when I found it, it wasn't worth worrying about. Zip tied it and forgot about it until now.
I installed the zipper filter and did the WORLD FAMOUS MUD-MOD yesterday, and I found this wire attached to the stock A/C. What's it for and what did you guys do with it? So far I just have it tucked in there to hide it, but wondering why HD hangs these kinds of plugs here and there that are not plugged into anything.
Thanks
ok...sorry to ask what is probably a stupid question...but what is the mud-mod...I'm sure this is something that everyone knows about but sometimes (or often times) I'm kinda slow...I'm guessing it has something to do with changing out the air filter???..
wow...mud-mod beyond me...wish I could do it though...I would love to have kept the '96 cubic in street bob logo from my teardrop a/c...oh well on to the next idea...

I was just about to post my own picture and ask what this thing was--just double checked the wire colours and indeed its the AI Solenoid. I just installed the Ness Big Sucker. It has a hole for the AI Solenoid in the back but its slightly too small for the solenoid plug. Ill plan on filing it down a bit and stick it in the hole (as the vicar said to the actress).
My next question is: if this is only used on European models, how comes HD doesnt have a USA wire harness so we dont have to have all these dangly bits hanging off our bikes? Maybe just cost effective to use a one-size-fits-all harness?
