Default I need new grips

Hello.
I have 2 questions to people with more experience.

After the first ride of the season /about 200 miles/ proved that grips, which have been very slippery ... so slippery that we should endeavor to keep handlebar.

You may need to change them because riding is not so pleasant.

Choose between the following two:

PM Renthal Grips

Avon Grips

Which are best?
Which will give better grip?
Thickness /outer diameter/ both is it the same? I prefer a thick and solid grips.
Does anyone of you knows the exact diameter of the rubber part?

And the second question.

Some impressions of these grips
Harley-Davidson Nostalgic Grips

Thanks in advance / Stefan

I have the PM Renthal Grips and I absolutely love them. They are the best grips I have ever used.

Grips are one of those very odd things... like most what workds for me will or will not work for you. I tend to ride with gloves so why I did try a set like the ones you like from PM. Really didnt have any improvedment. The 2nd choice at least for me worked.

Thats just my 2 cents.

Btw if you ride lots of highway... make sure you get a throttle boss of some sort. Nothing has improved comfort for me when it comes to hand controls like this did.

I have the Nostalgic grips, and I've put over 10K on the bike with them. I like 'em.

I just put the Avons on this winter. Only have about 150 miles on them so far but for me they fit better than the chrome with rubber strips that I had, not sure who makes them as they came with the bike. Kind of early to say for sure though as I have not ridden more than 70 miles at a time.

I have the avons. Good grips but having a thinner material then the HD's nastalgia grips, they do send a little more vibrations to the grips. I had the HD's but wents with the Avons because they just llok tough. I got them for about 55.00 through my local indy.

The two choices you are showing us look almost indentical with the same style of knurling. I wouldn't think there would be a difference in grip.

I just installed the Avons last week. I haven't had a chance to get many miles on them yet. They have a really nice feel compared to stock. The rubber on the Avons is slightly softer than on the PM ones.

The circumference is 4 1/2" at the widest point.

Thanks guys.

Maybe I will take Avon. One last question about 4 1/2 "... how is it in millimeters?
