Default Need a dyno tune badly, questions

Damn thing is barely broken in yet but I know I need to get it tuned. It's got the dealer download but it's **** obviously. I've only got the short shots and PM breather but my mpg sucks and I'm sure it would just do the bike a great deal of good to have a proper tune. That being said, theres a place right down the street that I've read great reviews for so I'll be going there. What am I looking at?
I'm coming from modding LSx based engines in cars so that's as far as my experience with tuning goes. Does the bike have to have an aftermarket fuel management system and THEN be tuned or can the stock computer be tuned like on cars?
Probably a total noob question
My disposable income has dried up since I recently got out of the military and I'm preparing to go back to school and whatnot so I hope this won't break the bank but my baby needs to be running properly. It's been a blast being back and having mostly beautiful weather to ride in every day.

The tuner will require either the SEST, SERT or TTS type tuners, if you don't have any other fuel management hardware/software for your bike. So on top of the dyno run itself, you may have to pay for some software/hardware.

I used the SERT on mine.....the one doing the tuning is the critical part....though the SERT ain't cheap....

Another noob question then, what's a good cheap fuel management system? I've read through about a dozen threads before but this is one of those topics that would drive someone crazy trying to make up their mind on.
So I'd need to get a fuel management and take that up their and let them tune the thing?
If I don't make much sense, blame it on the shiner lol

A sponsor on here is Fuel Moto, they can hook you up. A canned map will get you close enough, when you finish with everything then it pays to get the dyno tune.

You can get either a piggyback tuner i.e., Power Commander V. Fuelmoto can hook you up with a map for your needs. Then there are the tuners that rewrite the ECM program with no hardware left on the bike i.e., TTS(best) and the SERT.

Are you near Dallas? If you need a Dyno see Ed at Dyno Difference. As for tuners I like the system which leaves nothing on the bike. TTS,Sert, or SEST.

I wouldnt worry about that. Mine was broken in ON the dyno. I can show ya pics of the cylinders after 7k miles. My head guy liked the looks of things.

Either way get it tuned, letting it run like that may cause more damage than the break in you are worried about.

ask the dyno guy which fuel management system he likes tuning the best.

whichever he's most comfortable with will get you the best results.

your numbers will go up but the biggest thing is the dyno will straighten out your AFR, increase your throttle response, and deepen the tone you get from your exhaust.

yeah the extra 5 or so hp and 10 or so ft. lbs of torque are nice, but it's those things which make the bike more enjoyable to ride and worth the money of the tune, IMO
