Default Best FXDF Upgrade??

Alright gents, I got my bike & love it...am upto 400 miles & looking fwd to buying some upgrades. For this year, the budget is tight and the most I could spend is up to $1k. Looking at the SE Heavy Breather & slip-ons. Are these slip-ons louder than stock or similar??

I like the LCD oil-gauge & the Willie G Derby cover, as well.

So, my question is...what would you say is the best value upgrade if you had a stock Fat Bob?? I just got rid of my windshield & am looking for some opinions based off the group's experience.

Thanks in advance.

well the SE heavy breather is quite expensive. You could explore other A/C options and make out cheaper. Maybe do the Mud Mod to your stock A/C which is super cheap and looks great. On the slip on's I think the Rush slip ons might have some of the best sound for a pretty good price. Any slip on you use will be better than stock as far as the sound goes....if you are looking for a little rumble.

For me thus far (and I've only had my bike since Thanksgiving) the sundowner seat from HD has been a real improvement and worth the investment. On a long ride I can get off and it does not feel like I had been sitting... Some don't like the looks but I think it gives more of a retro than sport look which is when I decided on my denim black.

400 miles on mine too - ride safe and enjoy!

My vote would be pipes. My bike has the Rush slip-ons and they sound great. Not obnoxious loud but a nice low rumble. Did you sell your shield already? I may be interested if it's a quick release variety.

I had the rush on mine for a short period of time, they really do give you better sound than the stock mufflers. I changed mine out for a full set of pipes only because I got a killer deal on the pipes. If you change your mufflers and your a/c, you'll need to either get a download, or some other tuning option. Keep that in mind. I've done a lot with my bike already, if I had $1K to spend right now (and I don't), I'd probably pick up a Mustang Vintage Solo seat/Pillion. Of the upgrades I've done on the bike, I hate to say it, but my Kuryakyn Floor Boards made a hugh difference in comfort.

I'm running the Rush 2.0 on mine with the stage one and stock ac mod. You can't beat the sound for the money. It's got a deep and fairly loud sound without being to obnoxious. Nice bike!!

Instead of the LCD Oil guage get a cooler. I would do my stage 1 for sure will sound and perform better. I love the color of your bike sweet.

The options to spend money on are endless - my wish list is at $5000 and climbing. First choice given how quiet the stock pipes are is sounds - I simply debaffled my stock pipes. SE Aire Cleaner and Download next - Stage 1

When looking at exhaust, consider your options carefully and whether or not you want to do a full replacement. When I was in your shoes, I wanted to save some money and went with some D&D slip ons and I like them alot but I wish now I had gotten the Vance & Hines Big Radius that I really wanted. Now I will have to remove some $250 mufflers and still spend another $540 to get what I wanted in the first place.
