Default 30T on the books, GET SOME

As the title GET SOME, haha. Yep, just finished up my second invasion of the primary, wanted to get some of that 30T I keep hearing good things about and ditch the stock hd IPB, plus a couple other by the ways, since I was in there.
First off, gotta thank my amigo's, thedonthere, and tweakin, for their help and advice, and the powderpro Joe too, for some of his threads and part numbers, thanks guys.

Pulled everything apart as I had before with no probs except the famous 2 1/4 nut would not come off. My buddy's impact wouldn't touch it, my 5 foot some inch breaker bar/jack handle wouldn't budge it with my 170lb a$$ on top of it. My buddy thedonthere, convinced me thou shall not give in, so I mustered on. I sprayed the nut real good with kroil penetrating oil and let her sit over night, and my buddy with a tire shop told me to get his bigger compressor and air hose. The next morning I noticed my air hose was the stock craftsman crap 1/4inch, his was 3/8 or a 1/2, but noticeably bigger. All I did was put the sucker close to it and that nut was scared it came spinning right off, maybe the oil loosened it up but I'm sure the bigger line helped.

Everything going back together, since I have an 06 the cases on mine are not doweled like the 07's so I decided to put in the baker hi torque bearing kit, while I'm there, I contemplated a performance clutch, stock seemed kind of wimpy, but thought I'd give one last shot at the stock clutch with a heavy duty barnette clutch spring.
Also thought I'd try a se heavy duty compensator, I noticed the ramps on my stocker were showing wear, plus always felt like it was a clackity noise from the compensator.
Got held up a number of days due to crappy weather, reasphalting my street, and my never ending stainless hardware upgrades, had to wait on the 4inch bolts from my bolt supplier to come in.
Finally got out yesterday and tore up a few miles.
Observations, whip through the gears a good deal quicker without the lugging...
More torque,pepp.
Don't notice the clackityness from the compensator...
Don't notice the whirring or sloshing kind of sound, I presume from the IPB.

Overall, I dig it, and now it's time to GET SOME......................................:icon_bi ke:

One word of caution to you guys using heat on this nut, directly behind it is the transmission seal, unless your planning on changing that seal too, you might be careful or you might end up cooking that seal enough to leak after putting it all together. I used a good amount of penetrating oil instead of heat myself.

Lucky for me replacing that seal is the main reason I'm removing the pulley. I'm pretty sure I cooked it. I used lots of heat and still couldn't crack that nut. I don't get why that nut has to be so tight if it has a keeper plate holding it place.

Thanks for those pics. I wondered what was different about the later bikes primary drive, now we can all see! I like those large sprockets, but would like to know why Harley thought they needed to fit them.

boy Ive got a noise coming from the front primary it sounds like ever since i had the inner off remounting my mid controls. I wonder if I should pull it back apart and see - Why/How would the comensator be noisy? Do I understand right that 07 dont need to worry about the IPB, or am I wrong with that?
I def want a 30t and my belt probably needs replacing (almost 34k) so breaking into that sumbitcha gain is around the corner

what did it all set you back $$ wise?

Yup. My next upgrades for sure. Gotta wait a few more months though, but it will happen for sure.

How much did all the parts set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

I don't either hogrida, in fact I don't know why the thing is loctited in either, since the keeper plate holds it in check, I actually loctited the two keeper bolts in with blue loctite, book doesn't say to do it but I think they are more important to keep secured, if they don't move, this pulley nut won't move.

blackmopar boy Ive got a noise coming from the front primary it sounds like ever since i had the inner off remounting my mid controls. what did it all set you back $$ wise?

Money wise,
1 07-174-0004 Baker Drivetrain High Torque Bearings/Seal K it $42.95

1 11-039-0051 Barnett Clutch Spring Heavy Duty $28.95

1 07-149-0031 Andrews Pulley 6-Speed 30 Tooth Transmission $128.95

Order Total: $200.85
Shipping Cost: $10.90
Shipping Discount: ($10.90)
Grand Total: $200.85
Primary gasket, some bolts, quart amsoil primary fluid, drain plug o ring, that kind of junk, about another 50 bucks. You will have to come up with a 2 1/4 socket to fit that nut and either a lock tool and/or a helper to mash on the brake to keep wheel from turning to bust the nut torque loose, also a good impact, all these items, I had to beg and borrow from buds, but I believe you can buy em too from georges garage online. Compensator will sound like a rod knocking if it starts to come loose, you'll know it, but just it design, it always sounded a bit clackity to me, even all the different oils I tried nothing got rid of it, til I got rid of it.

Charlie G. Cactusred, Did you have enough ajustment with the stock belt?

Yep, instead of the adjustment being dead on center, it is now more towards the rear, because I kept the original belt so it works just fine. I would imagine when this belt wears out down the road, I will inquire as to a belt two teeth shorter or one inch shorter or however they designate it to match the 30tooth pulley....
