Default Dyna ground clearance

After the first 50 miles on her new 2010 SG Custom my wife tells me that she has scraped her pipes twice while turning. Feels like the tube bracket between the pipes has been dragging. Any suggestions? She's not an aggressive rider. Both times have been when turning out from a cross street from a stop. Just wait until it wear out?

Could you somehow plan destinations where no turning is required? Maybe just once at the end of the trip to go back home?

Are you saying the bracket that connects the upper and lower pipe together is dragging?? You should be dragging the pegs before the pipe unless you go aftermarket pipes that dip a little below the frame, but that usually up by the front controls. Pic would help!! I put a 21" front wheel on my SB and gave me about a 1 inch raise and I can take turns faster before I scrape the pegs!!

You might check the rear shock settings...mine was set on one when I took delivery... I was bottoming out and scraping my sideshot exhaust. I moved it to the third setting and no more bottoming out and no more exhaust scraping. ( but it is just a bit firm for my 195 lbs.)

+1 on that didn't think about it. I had to bump mine up to 3 because I was bottoming out. I'm 210 though so it's smooth for me now!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the exhaust is mounted to the frame. Shock hgt affects seat hgt (and tire clearance to the fender) and has no bearing on exhaust hgt. I'm not sure how the brackets are hitting. I also think the engine guard would hit before the pegs do. I have only deduced that it it the exhaust bracket by checking everything for scraps. Nothing on the pegs or engine guard, just on the exhaust bracket.

The center of the bike will raise if the shocks are longer/stiffer. In any case, this seems strange. Maybe you should watch her pull out from a few intersections and see if there is anything unusual about how she is turning as well.

I'd also check the tire pressure although you'd think that was checked by the shop before delivery.

Weird!! Do you have an aftermarket exhaust?? I scrape my pegs in the twisties all the time and nothing from my exhaust will touch. If you bump the shocks up to the stiffest setting it will raise the bike. If you bump it up to 2 or 3 depending on her weight it's not going to move to anything noticeable other then being a little stiffer and not bottoming out. I agree with above watching her ride and see what it is. If people don't ride aggressive as you stated she shouldn't be grinding anything.

On my07 Street Bob the first thing to touch down was the exhaust bracket you mention. Not nice as its frame mounted. My first mod was Shotshots and air filter, hence no more bracket dragging. Now albeit with better shocks the first thing to touch down are the pegs which is as it should be in my opinion.
