We all have those moments that make us reflect. What has helped me is my wife now rides her own. When i ride with her, its nothing but cruising, not a lot of playing. And God help a cage that I think gets to close to her! lol. But, we all play. Sunday I got out on my wifes Street Bob, (since my Wide Glide is still getting the bent wheel, bent tank, bent exhaust, bent sliders and scratched fender fixed from a cager who had a diabetic seizure while driving through the parking lot). Anyway, im at a stoplight with the road to myself and a mile to the house completely straight. Well found out that a Steet Bob can smoke that 160 tire alot better than my W.G. can the 180! We all like to open up a bit, but like you said, we gotta think what that few seconds of "bliss" could cost us!

glad your writing this man. i too have done stupid things while on the scoot.

but i remember back in high school. a guy i worked with, who had a brand new camaro ss with police package (thing was kick ***). he dragged raced a firebird one day, well the firebird wrecked, driver and passenger was killed. he was charged with their deaths, leaving the scene, and other charges i'm sure. come to think of it, hes probably still in jail over that 30-40 seconds worth of "fun" he thought he was going to have drag racing...

I am very happy to see you pulled through unharmed. I also like seeing you man up and take the blame for the situation. Usually these posts put all the blame on the cage. Even when the bike has done something wrong we blame the cage for our problem. That said I have had those wake up moments like you describe. I also still do those stupid things!
