Thats why I finally started buying Harleys, I think I wouldnt be around if I still rode sportbikes.
I'm 62 and use to race. I bought the Harley in order to make myself cruise. If I owned a hyabusa I'd have to see if it would go and at 62, fall-down go boom from being dumb is tough to live over. However I use to drag regularly on my 02 wideglide til I put Progressive 1/2" longer than stock shocks on the rear. Now I start to get skiddish before I start dragging things and it is really comfortable on long rides to boot.----jack
Absolutely! I did some draggin while riding the Dragon last Sept. I was so addicted to dragging that when I got home if I didn't scrape I felt let down. It's a bad addiction. I was scraping pretty hard through some turns and knew early on how far I could go before I got that same feeling you got.
Yeah I went to the Dragon after owning my bike for 2 months and I was so addicted to dragging the pegs I was definetely disappointed when I didnt drag I love it so much I still have the same ground down pegs from then... I figured what the hell I'm gonna drag em any way so why replace them... lol
The scary thing is the stock mid pegs don't even make a sound the first few times until the rubber is ground away. Wait until you tag the ground with the primary!!!! That thing doesn't give. I have boards now and those make some noise when they hit. I've gotten down to the mounting braket on the left side and they don't give either!
I've scraped my mid pegs......once on each side. Scared the bejeebers out of me the first time. My Low Rider was lowered an inch, so I figure that added to it happening.
I didn't think I leaned over that much.
scrape pegs and rear of the fatcat. Funny thing I noticed, I seem to be more apt to go deep to the right as opposed to the left. Mostly though i touch my heel of my shoe before the peg. One time I touched heel, lifted my foot up a little and the peg folded up about 45 deg on me. I know the point of touching down so probably about 90% of the time when cornering fast I am just a touch above scraping.
I would be careful about letting your heel drag. I friend of mine did just that had ended up breaking his ankle when it caught on something in the turn.
test rode a 2010 WG yesterday...pooped a little when i did it on the first turn..wasnt expecting it. My lowered fatboy would grind a lot but was expecting it.
