Kaduku,
That's the strange thing about it. When the stand was retracted the only noise it made was the familiar thump of the stand hitting the rubber bumper. The sound was duplicated by the mechanic hitting the stand along it's length, not near the rubber pad. Something about the way it rested let it rattle until he repositioned it. Anyway, I just road another 60 miles today and the noise is gone.
Very interesting, I will remember this if I start hearing something similar. Glad that your noise has stopped, must have been very frustrating.

The rubber kickstand bumper was missing from my '07 FXDL when I took delivery. At first, I thought the "clang" I heard whenever I put the stand up was normal. I didn't realize something was wrong until I sat on a Lowrider at the dealer. I've got a bumper now - but you can see where the paint is chipped where the stand was hitting the frame.

On another note, I am getting a very pronounced "clunk" on the front end - sometimes over bumps and sometimes when I stab the front brakes. I can also feel it it through the handlebars. My dealer told me it's probably the steering head bearing and they'll lube and tighten at the 1k mile service. They said this is a common issue on new Dynas and it would be ok to ride it until I can get it into the shop. If anyone knows differently, let me know.

My clunk wound up being the front tank mounting bolt was loose. It allowed the tank to bounce on the bolt.

Found it by pulling up on the tank and it moved.

I did not have a clunk on my st bob but going down I-65 at 65 mph it sounded like the whole bottom of the engine was comming apart. I pulled to the side of the road to find my kick stand was dragging. I had not hit any bumps or anything. The retract spring was still connected to the frame. I could not reattach it to the kick stand. I took it off and put it in my pocked and while my pardner held the bike up right I tied the kick stand up with some string I had in my pocket. Took it to the dealer and about three guys jumped on it and said the bumper was out of position, too far forward. They check everything, rehooked the spring and repositioned the bumper. Haven't had any problems in 8K. Was kind of scary after thinking about it.

Had a glunk that drove me nuts when going over bumps, RR tracks, washboards, etc.
Found the same problem as Lee. Front fuel tank bolt was not torked enough. Tank never felt at all loose though.

Dude,

Exactly WHAT is the correct position for that rubber bumper? I looked it up in the service manual and it shows it, but doesn't mention the correct placement. Should the thickest part be facing outward (to the left, parallel to the ground) or pointing straight down (toward the ground)?

I don't really have anyone available to assist me with this (I'll have to properly position it while the stand is DOWN, so I cannot adjust it with the stand up, as one normally would) and I'm not about to ask the stealer for this kind of lame-*** help...

THANKS!

From looking at other Lowriders on the showroom (at the Corinth and Carrollton stores), I saw the bumper mounted a couple of different ways. On mine, I've got it mounted so that the thick part is facing the ground so that the stand hits the thick part when retracted. The solid side of the bumper is on the side of the frame facing the rear brake disc.

I'll tell you that it takes some elbow grease to get that thing put back on the frame - I don't see how they can just fall off. It can be done by yourself but it really does help to have someone holding the bike upright. Shoot me a PM if you want to meet up and I'll try to lend you a hand.

I have been having the "clunk" ever since the dealer replaced my fuel tank. Tightened up the bolts and the "clunk" sound is gone. I owe you all a beer!
