i'm actually more comfy on the bare bones than the stock seat.
the stocker was too wide and after less than an hour my inner thighs would be killing me because i'd have to squeeze my legs in tight to keep my feet on the pegs.
no more squeezing, the bare bones allows a more natural position for my feet to sit on the pegs, thus a more relaxed ride.
Nice ride man. I am curious too, looking to buy one myself, although I dont know if I want to give up the back support of my sidekick. def looks awesome though.
jpace024, your bike is sick looking! I like the rims alot. Good job, that thing is bad *** looking.
I put on a new Silhouette the other day and I find that it drastically changed the over-all look of the bike but the comfort factor is out the window. I'm over 6'1" and the left side electrical box cover digs in so if a shorter frider had this particualr seat they'd have both the left and right side covers digging in. Unlike many, I went for a 3 hour ride on my new bike when I got it with the stock seat and didn't have a butt problem at all, now it's flat at 1/2 an hour. I read these forums and it's exactly what I expected, workmanship is very good and the looks of the bike are way better, IMHO.
Seat looks great! Looks a lot like my Danny Gray Barhopper - a beautiful seat but no lateral or back support. Barhopper was the perfect name. Now, unfortunately, it sits on a shelf in my garage.
Hope you have better luck with you LePera, cause it sure looks good!
No suprise you liked it better than the stock seat. I think the bbones sets off a dyna like no other. I had one. Loved the look and loved the first 45 minutes of riding on it. After that, I may as well have been sitting on a brick. If you only went a half hour, you might want to reserve judgment until you can stay on it longer. It's not a touring seat but it looks great and is suprisingly comfortable, for a little while anyway, for its size and thickness. Finally sold mine and went with a Mustang Tripper. It was sort of a compromise for me. It's still a good quality, nice looking seat and I can ride on it much longer than my bbones. But it's not quite as visually stimulating as the bbones was.
I've had several LePera seats on Sportsters, Road Kings and Dynas, all with the same result. Sore butt after less than an hour. Thing is, I love the way they look! I was actually looking at one to replace the stock seat on my Street Bob. Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?
Yea these are the best looking seats out there. They aren't the most comfortable though but then I think everyone realizes that. Mine has gotten a little more comfortable after losing some weight. I guess my fat *** isn't crushing the little padding there is on it anymore.
I jsut got my BB and pillian today... slapped them both on the bike havent had a shot to ride yet but thats coming in a few hours... thinking about taking the pillian off for now till I get my rear pegs in later this week... plus no strange is requesting it yet haha
