the website describes some sort of difference but visually i can't see anything.
I asked myself the same question. This was offered at a good price so I got it rather than saving a few dollars on the Barebones.
Maybe just a bit more padding.....I don't know.

the only real difference on the dyna model is the fact that the Silhouette has a 2 piece cover and the Barebones has a one piece cover, and maybe a little bit of a lip for "back support".

Default not a BB

I have a Silhouette Solo w/gel and so far only a few 100-mile days with no complaints - planning a 300-mile ride soon...

Yeah, 2 hours to numb @$$ is about right. But guess what, us guys with Dynas can't go much longer than 2 hours before stopping for gas...works out well especially since that gas gauge is worthless.

I love mine. You get used to it after a while, the discomfort helps to keep you awake, and you look like a sick animal as you destroy the pavement in front of you.

the bare bones was the very first thing i did to my bike when i got it. i need something much more low profile than the stock one i had on her. that was a year ago and it's been awesome! (except the 2 hour period like most are saying, LOL)

When I first got my bike it had the version of the badlander that pushes you forward, and it pretty much had my junk on the tank. Swapped to the barebones and so far I'm loving it. It sits me lower and a good 4 inches further back. Granted the farthest I've ridden so far is an hour, and other than a bit more side-to-side slippage, I had no discomforts. Looks killer too!

4 inches further back! I love the look of this seat, and am willing to deal with a little discomfort, but I'm not sure my 30" inseam has the room to reach my forward controls if I move back that far. 4 inches? Glad you posted before I pulled the trigger on another seat. Any other short legged dudes use this seat? Any suggestions for alternatives?

On my 04 I have both the silhouette and BB

The silhouette is wider towards the front of the seat and has a larger lip with more cushion towards the back. I got a BB on ebay a few years ago from someone for real cheap so I decided to get it for the hell of it and to be honest I actually like it better than the Sil! It definitely is thinner as far as cushioning but I'm only 5'7" and since the front portion is thinner, it feels better on the inside of my thighs when cruising (forward controls). Recently I swapped out the BB with the Sil and within a few miles of riding I wanted the BB back!
