Default Any mod suggestions?

Fairly new Harley Davidson owner. I recently purchased a 2010 SB. Any suggestions for my first mod?

Seems like pipes are the first mods people make.
Rims maybe? I know when I first had my Chevy Chevelle the first thing I did was slap rally rims and tires on them and made gave it a whole different look.

Just looking for suggestions from the vets...

First, take your time and come up with a plan rather than just make changes. Spend some time on this site (it's a great resource). Buy some mags. Ride and hang with some other riders and see what they've done and decide what you like.

Also, decide what's more important to you, form or function.

You can spend a little, but it is so easy to spend a lot!

First mod is easy and free - remove the reflectors front and rear and the idiot sticker from the downtube on the frame. After that, it's wide open. Exhaust and air cleaner (stage 1) is a very common early mod. Make your Harley sound like one.

Definitely think it out and picture it before you spend time and money. I spent some time and money on mine at first and found myself going in a direction I didn't like. Recovered some of the money but not all of it.

Take his advice...

I'd start making a long list of things you want done. It took me months to generate that list. All the while, I would rank and re-rank the mods I wanted first.

It helps. The last thing you want to do is spend a ton of money or time on something you impulsed onto your bike.

Plan out your build. You will most likely want to do things to your bike that you don't even know you want to do yet... So many options. The last thing you will want to do is make some mods then 2 months down the road upgrade again. It's all about managing your $$$. Good luck and congrats!

How does the stock SB fit you in terms of the riding position, the bars, the seat, the foot controls? Next is performance, a freer flowing A/C and pipes for a Harley rumble and an easy 10% gain in torque and HP. After performance comes other accessorizing - rack, bags, bling, etc. to support your overall theme.

Here's my next mod. I rode a Softail Convertible this weekend, and it had the new combination speedo and tach (see photo). It's really cool. I decided, "I gotta get me one of these!" My FXDC only has the speedo in the tank console, no tach (I think, like your SB). So yes, look at other bikes. The Dynas are more of a blank canvas than many other Harleys, so have fun!

plan plan plan!

how do you want your bike to look?

blacked out? chrome queen? are you an ape guy? drag bars? forwards? performance over looks or looks over performance?

i agree with what someone said. reflectors gotta go.

another free mod is to take the rear turn signals and replace the arms with chrome 1/4 inch spacers to tuck them in nice and close to the rear fender.

Remove the reflectors first, after that do tons of research on pipes, air cleaners, tuners and decide which way you want to go, plenty of products out there and most all will work together, but for the biggest bang for the $$$ find out what works the best together.

Notice the difference between with and without the reflectors.
With

Without
